One of India’s leading women entrepreneurs, Namita Thapar, CEO of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, is once again dominating internet headlines and trending charts. After the creators of the show Shark Tank India 2released a promotional video for the upcoming episode and it took social media by storm after Namita was seen making a shocking revelation about her life.
Namita Thapar revealed how people used to shame her and call her ‘moti’.
In the video, we can see the entrepreneur presenting her clothing brand, offering beautiful clothes and dresses especially for plus size people. Namita Thapar recalls the times when people would embarrass her and call her ‘moti’ after listening to her songs.

This revelation shocked not only the contestant but also the other judges. In an additional statement, Namita Thapar suggested and asked entrepreneurs to clarify the reasons why they should make clothes for all sizes instead of focusing only on plus sizes. He said:
“Sach much India mein jo ye body shaming jise kehte hain, jo yeh ‘moti, moti’ bulate hain, uski target main bhi ban chuki hoon. Aapne aesa kyun nahi socha ki mein only plus size ke liye fashion banati hoon, na ki sab . size ke liye.”
To Namita Thapar’s question, the entrepreneur explained that she didn’t want to make people of larger sizes feel indifferent to others. Shimdegch further stated that they don’t want to exclude plus size people like other brands and have created a separate size chart or collection specifically for them. A clothing brand entrepreneur says:
“The biggest problem in the plus size industry is that plus size people are treated like outcasts. We want them to feel included because we don’t have a separate size chart or collection for them. They are part of our entire collection.”

This is not the first time that Namitha Thapar has opened up about being overweight when she appeared on Chetan Bhagat’s talk show in 2021. The writer once described how he was bullied as a teenager. years in terms of his appearance and weight. He said:
